What's a room/channel/chatroom?
• Basically, all users in the same Public Channel, or room, will see all of the same public messages.
• Think of it this way. The World (irc server), has many cities (rooms) in it, and yelling in one city is only heard in that city.
• I never said I was good at metaphors.
How do I Find Rooms?
• Once logged into the IRC chat network, you can use the list command to display rooms, by typing this in any text input box:
/list
How do I join Rooms?
• After typing list, depending on how you got into the chat network, you can either double click the room names, or you can use the JOIN command to join any room.
• The join command can be used in any text input box by typing:
/join #room-name-here
How do I form my OWN room?
• Simply using the JOIN command above and using a name of a room that's not already been taken, will form a new channel for you.
• For example, if you want to create a room called cybersex, you'd type:
/join #cybersex
• If the room is empty, and not registered, you can then register your room, if you'd like it to be permanently yours.
How do I register a room?
• First you must register your name,
see the How-To's for that, then you can register a room.
• Ask CHANSERV for help by typing this, after forming your room:
/msg chanserv HELP
